Passage: 1 Corinthians 15:12-20

1 Corinthians 15 is the Bible’s most extensive and focused treatment of the doctrine of the resurrection. In verses 12-20, Paul addresses the question. “Is the resurrection necessary?” We consider six reasons why the resurrection is essential for Christianity in general and your faith in particular.

  1. The Resurrection validates the apostolic message
  2. Jesus’ resurrection ensures our faith is not futile by securing a living hope of new birth for believers in this life
  3. Jesus’ Resurrection ensures our faith is not futile by accomplishing our justification before God
  4. Jesus’ Resurrection ensures our faith is not futile by accomplishing our justification before God
  5. Jesus’ Resurrection ensures our faith is not futile because we have an eternal High Priest who ever intercedes for us
  6. Sixth, Jesus’ Resurrection ensures our faith is not futile because we have the hope of a resurrection like His

Because of Christ’s union with us in our condemnation under Adam, we can now have union with our resurrected Savior, who has the full favor and pleasure of the Father.
