Passage: Mark 13
Because of tumultuous times ahead, true disciples must be on guard
Commentators have called Mark 13 “one of the most perplexing chapters in the Bible.”Jesus predicts the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem and unravels His disciples’ question concerning the sign and timing of Jerusalem’s destruction and the end of the age. In spite of the tumultuous times ahead, Jesus exhorts disciples of every age to “be on guard.”
- True disciples must be on guard against Deceptive Distractions
- True disciples must be on guard against open opposition
- True disciples must be on guard against discouragement
- True Disciples must be on guard against negligence
True disciples of the risen Christ must remain alert, awake, and engaged as we diligently anticipate the glorious return of the “King”
