Passage: Psalm 133

Fight for unity in God’s church.

  1. Unity in the church reflects God’s plan for us. (receiving grace)
  2. Unity in the church brings God’s blessing. (ministry)
  3. Unity in the church characterizes eternity.

How important is unity in the church? In other organizations, like the military, for example, vastly different people with entirely different value systems rally around a common goal for the sake of a nation. Is that what unity in the church is like? Or does God have something more precise in mind for his people? Psalm 133 helps us understand just how important unity is according to God. When we realize how big a deal unity is, we are motivated to treat it with the sobriety it deserves, all for God’s glory in the church.
