Passage: Mark 5:21-43

We have a low view of Jesus and his authority over sin and death. This text is meant to reveal Jesus as the one who has authority over death and the effects of sin.

Take comfort in Jesus 

1. Jesus confronts the decaying 
2. Jesus confronts the unclean
3. Jesus confronts the dead 

Resurrection is just as certain as death because in God’s kingdom, the dead will live. 

In Mark, we are given a grand portrait of who Jesus is.  In this narrative, we have two women.  One who has been afflicted for 12 years and another who has died at the age of 12. 

The first comes to Jesus in faith and is healed immediately. The other is visited by Jesus and is brought back to life. Mark wants us to take comfort in knowing that our savior is Lord over death itself and ever since his kingdom has come he has been making all things new.
