Jesus movement from relative obscurity to Messianic ministry was through the waters of John’s baptism thus fulfilling a redemptive-historical pattern established at the foundation of humanities existence. Jesus is the true and better Adam, Son of promise, King, and Prophet, anointed as Messiah by the Spirit at His baptism. But we must always remember, before Jesus did anything, He rested in pleasure of the Fathers favor. Like Jesus, we must work from rest; resting in the Father’s pleasure in us as we are in the Beloved Son.
