Passage: Matthew 7:1-6

Judging Others
7 “Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. 3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.

6 “Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you.

Intro:
We confront sin in ourselves and others while submitting to God’s authority as Judge over all.

Outro:
God our Father, we love you. We come to you as people grateful for Your Word. Thank you for telling us how to confront sin in our lives and in the lives of our brothers and sisters.

Jesus Christ, thank you for confronting sin on calvary. Thank you for taking our sin when we hid from you. Thank you for your perfect life and death in our place. Thank you for promising to return and destroy sin for all time.

Holy Spirit, we love you and we thank you for invading our hearts and softening us to the gospel of Jesus. Holy Spirit, we ask for your power and sustaining presence as we seek to obey the words of the Bible. Help us confront our own sin first and most. Help us to gently confront sin in each other. And please help us to long for the day of Jesus’ return. Fill us over and over until that day, we ask.

God, we love you and need you. Help us to glorify you this week.

Amen.
